A&T 2017. Idea75's Industry 4.0-oriented solution applied at Casillo Group Production Plants wins innovation 4.0 award

The project was illustrated to the public in a report entitled Il molino 4.0: antica tradizione e automazione cognitiva [The 4.0 mill: ancient tradition and cognitive automation], which explores the innovative system designed by the start-up Idea75 and currently being tested in the Casillo Group plants.

3-5 May 2017 – Oval Lingotto, Turin. The tenth A&T, the International Fair for Competitive Innovation in the Manufacturing Industry, is an established reference point for the manufacturing and non-manufacturing industrial sector, system integrators and research centres, all sectors interested in concrete answers to implementing their production model from a 4.0 perspective.

The show, which every year includes a considerable number of events, seminars and conferences, all intended to support the technological growth of companies, reserves ample space to ideas and applications useful for introducing innovative technologies in the world of production, allowing companies, universities and start-ups to present their relevant experiences.

Innovation Award 4.0: this event is dedicated to presenting experiences that leading companies are having in relation to the 4.0 industrial model, as is also happening in the factories of the Casillo Group, a world leader in the handling and processing of wheat that has adopted the innovative solution developed by the Idea75 start-up derived from the SEI project to address the challenges of energy efficiency, on-demand production, predictive maintenance and production optimisation.

The technical-scientific article entitled "Il molino 4.0: antica tradizione e automazione cognitiva [The mill 4.0: ancient tradition and cognitive automation]" was written and presented at the show, as part of the Internet of Things: application cases and development perspectives session led by Giuseppe Leonardo Cascella - PhD and CEO, Idea75; Davide Cascella - PhD and R&D, Casillo Group; Ruggiero D'Aluisio - CTO, Casillo Group.

Their work, which was welcomed and chosen by the majority of the public, therefore coming first in its category among the 11 winners of the Innovation 4.0 Award - 2017 edition, has shown that collaboration between industry and research is an essential requirement for the development of industrial companies intent on achieving a more intelligent, reactive and efficient production process.

The application of technologies designed according to the Industry 4.0 paradigm to the Casillo Group factories has already had the first positive results, a clear sign that the digitalisation of production processes and company organisation is the right way to go about making the milling process more competitive and to continue to assert its leadership worldwide.
